"You'd be surprised how often the two can overlap," he says, his voice dry. He opens his filing cabinet, rifling through it for various items that he places on top of it; a knife, a flask, a torch, and other things, wrapped in cloth, that are harder to discern the use or even identity of. "There are a few inconvenient things I can bypass that others cannot, in fact, which is why so much trouble ends up coming to me."

He glances back at Avery for a moment, as if to prove his point.
