Gabriel was more than familiar with the idea of sacrificing defense for offense, after all Heaven too contained their fair share of glass cannons. It wouldn't be the first time he'd entered combat with such, so whatever annoyance that might have conceivably existed at the idea of playing 'baby sitter' was promptly thrown away at the realization that so long as Gabriel was mindful of Vivi's limitations... He could almost be considered 'indispensable' now.
It certainly helped elevate the little guy from 'atonement' to 'companion' in a matter of seconds, roughly as long as it took for Vivi to cast that all consuming fireball.
Of course it was noted the precise amount of time it took for Vivi to regain his strength (impressively short, extremely efficient), and that information was neatly filed away for later.
