It would have been a somewhat correct statement, if only because those hungry little scraps were only what he could manage to scrape together. Sharing those little pieces of empathy when he could manage it. Perhaps it wasn't surprising that the creation of a sinner would still find himself fed by it, after all, it'd still been more than enough for the Ferryman. Hell was cruel, kindness so often nothing more than a distant dream or a bitter joke.
