Cassiel's comment prompted a chuckle, and perhaps one might even imagine it almost sounded humble. Almost. Maybe. It was hard to tell.

"It's never been necessary, you're correct." He couldn't lie, for once the thought of not knowing something didn't spark frustration or anger. He wanted to know more, even if it was just for this.
